Berefet's dock

2012-2014 Project > Berefet's dock

Excited for the good reception of the bee farm project, and with the satisfaction of having been able to provide 100 beehives in the village of Berefet and have been active elements in the transmission of a solidarity behavior towards our students, Mirada Oberta and Ramon Llull School start again our solidary action.

Thus, while maintaining our commitment to continue working to identify and meet the needs of the disadvantaged groups, we are committed to contribute to the development of fishing activities in the village of Berefet by means of the construction of a wooden dock that allows fishermen of the community to moor and to untie the boats in an easy way.

Once again, we have made an impact on the opening of our students' eyes, so that they grow up and become aware of the differences in their surroundings, and they can integrate them into their day-to-day lives.

Although it has been a difficult and laborious project, we have finally achieved it; the dock already stands firm in the middle of the Gambia River.

It took 2 years of hard work, logging, shoring of pillars and finally the final uprising. Many men have been needed, a lot of strength, much technique, many nerves but it has finally been achieved. The pillars of the small "harbor" of Berefet have been clinging to the ground, underpinning the wonderful dock that stands firmly in the middle of the Gambia River.
